Wills, Trusts & Estate Planning
Our Estate Planning practice group provides estate and estate tax planning advice for individuals, including the preparation of Wills, revocable and irrevocable trusts, life insurance trusts, special needs trusts (SNTs), family partnerships, gifting and transfer documents and various charitable planning techniques, such as charitable remainder trusts. We help our clients design and implement plans to accomplish their personal goals, whether that is through a simple Will or a complex multigenerational trust. We also routinely advise high net worth families in sophisticated and tax-motivated estate planning to provide for an efficient transfer of assets to the next generation and beyond. We include Powers of Attorney and Advance Directives for Health Care in estate planning services as well as for “adult” children heading off to college.
Probate & Estate Administration
Estate Administration is the process by which the estate of a deceased individual is administered. If the deceased person had a valid Last Will and Testament, the process is called ‘probate’; if the individual died without a Will, the process is called an ‘administration’. *We are here to assist our clients in the probate of Wills and administration of intestate estates from start to finish, from the initial probate court filings, through the issuance of Letters Testamentary or Letters of Administration, and with other aspects of the estate administration process, including the transfer of real property. We also assist clients with Petition for Year’s Support, Guardianship/Conservatorship filings, and other matters falling
under the probate court jurisdiction.*
Business Entities and Transactions
*Our attorneys provide advice as to the best business structure, along with formation of entities for clients, to include s-Corporations, c-corporations, Limited Liability Companies (LLCs), partnerships and not-for-profit entities including Homeowner Associations (HOAs).* We also provide continued representation to our entity clients and the owners, on matters such as buy-sell agreements, contracts, leases, and other matters related to the operation of a business. Additionally, we represent buyers and sellers of a business in connection with asset purchase agreements or stock purchase agreements, and other corporate transactions. We regularly handle both small and large transactions, from adding new partners, shareholders or members, to multi-million dollar sales and acquisitions, with every transaction receiving the same level of dedication and attention.
